Compliance With OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard Just Got Easier

Virtual Safety Manager (VSM) released a new tool for creating hazardous chemical inventory lists as required by 29 CFR, 1910.1200 (e)(l)(i).

Per that paragraph, a list of all chemicals on the premises must be identified and kept current. The chemical inventory list also supports compliance with 29 CFR, 1910.1020(c)(5)(iv), Access to Employee Exposure and Medical Records. And remember…those records must be in existence for 30 years.

With just a few keystrokes, create a comprehensive hazardous chemical inventory and capture all the information necessary to properly inform employees of the chemical hazards they may encounter – and preserve that information as long as you wish.

    Note the required fields:

    • ID No: It is recommended that this be the CAS number.
    • Chemical Name: The name from the container label, which is also the name from the MSDS.
    • Start Date: Date this chemical was first on the premises.
    • End Date: Date this chemical was last on the premises. If the chemical is still on the premises, this field is left blank.
    • Location: This is the storage/use location of this chemical.

When this screen is completed, this chemical has been entered into inventory and will appear on the chemical inventory list.

Once all the chemicals in your facility have been entered, a complete chemical inventory list can be produced, at anytime and covering any period.
