Navigating Through VSM
The Virtual Safety Manager (VSM) was designed with the end user in mind. Navigating through the program is easy with the tabs along the top of the page. See it, click on it, and go.
The Home page is, as with most computer programs, the starting point. It’s the first page after logging into the program. There is a series of Frequently Asked Questions with answers on this page.
Clicking the User tabs leads to information on the person who is logged in. On this page, personal information may be edited or updated and training requirements reviewed.
The Tools tab opens the real "guts" of VSM. Topics on the Tools page relate to information and instructions for creating, implementing and managing an entire safety program. There are also several links to important safety-related websites – both regulatory and informational. Users often spend a lot of time with the resources on the Tools page.
One of the cornerstones of VSM is employee training. Clicking on the Training tab shows the training profile of the logged in user. An employee knows immediately which training classes they are required to take and the current status of each class (is it due or has it been taken). It is from this page that users access the online training classes and performance examinations.
Behind the Management tab is a plain English discussion of how to comply with major OSHA regulations and some down-to-earth compliance tips. All of the information there is intended to make complying with technical regulations easier and more effective.
A basic goal of VSM is to assist the management of a complex safety and health program. To achieve that goal, information is necessary. Reports cover the entire employee training program, hazardous chemical inventories, and accident recording, among others.
